👉 Ready to learn how to make baked brie with figs and maple? Let’s do it!

🧀 Ingredients

  • Figs: Any fig variety will do, we like black mission figs
  • Brie cheese: 100% real imported brie is best because it melts more easily, but any brie can work
  • Maple syrup or honey: A drizzle of maple syrup or honey adds a touch of sweetness
  • Crackers: We like a crunchy thin cracker with dried fruit and seeds, but crostini or even toasted bread also works
  • Recommended tools: round glass baking dish or pie dish, knife set

🥣 How to make (step-by-step photos)

1️⃣ Step One: Preheat oven

Before prepping the ingredients, first prep the oven! Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 175 degrees Celsius) and get out a round baking or pie dish.

2️⃣ Step Two: Wash and cut figs

Next it’s time to prepare the figs. Simply wash them and then cut each fig into quarters so you have small fig pieces

3️⃣ Step Three: Prep baking dish

Place a round or block of brie cheese in the middle of the glass baking dish and then arrange the cut figs around it.

Then drizzle maple syrup or honey on top of the cheese and the fruit.

4️⃣ Step Four: Bake the brie and figs

Next, place the dish into the oven and bake the cheese and fruit for about 20 minutes, or until the brie is soft throughout when you place a fork into it and the figs are beginning to brown (but are not burned!).

5️⃣ Step Five: Serve spread on crackers or bread

When the cheese has baked and is soft, remove it from the oven and serve immediately!

You do not have to remove the cheese from the dish, you can carefully place the hot dish on a serving mat with crackers, crostini, or bread and guests can serve themselves by using a knife to cut into the cheese and spreading it on the crackers and topping with a few figs.

💡 Ideas for serving

  • As a spreadable appetizer. Serve in the traditional way with crackers for a sweet and salty spreadable appetizer.
  • As a topping for toast. You can also use baked brie with figs as a topping for crusty toast.
  • As a sandwich spread. Add baked brie and figs to a sandwich for a sweet and salty twist.

🧊 How to store

  1. Refrigerator storage: Store in an airtight container for up to two days in the refrigerator (any longer and the cheese will be very hard). To reheat, simple reheat the cheese in the microwave or the oven before eating so it becomes soft.
  2. Freezer storage: We do not recommend freezing as the cheese will lose its texture when thawed after freezing.

Ingredients

  • 8 whole figs
  • 6 ounces brie cheese
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or honey
  • 8 crackers or crostini or bread

Instructions

  • Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Prep figs: Wash and cut figs into quarters. Set aside.
  • Prep baking dish: In a round baking or pie dish, place the whole hunk of brie and arrange the fig slices around it. Then drizzle maple syrup on top of cheese and fruit.
  • Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the figs begin to brown and the brie is soft and beginning to melt.
  • Serve: When the cheese has baked, remove the dish from the oven and serve immediately with crostini, crackers, or bread for spreading.

Notes

  • Cracker tips: Choose a flavored crostini for an extra flavor boost. I choose a seed and dried cranberry oat crisp when photographing this recipe.
  • How to use leftovers: Use leftover figs and brie on sandwiches, in salads, or on toast the next day.
  • Leftovers and storage: Store in an airtight container for up to two days in the refrigerator, any longer the cheese will become very hard. Leftover toasted bread will stale quickly, so toast on the amount of bread you will use for each serving.
  • Nutrition notes: Nutrition information does not include crostini, crackers, or bread.
